We all know the saying “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade”. How does this apply to photography?
I was musing over this very question yesterday morning as I drove back from an early morning landscape shoot at one of my favourite locations. I had gotten up (very) early so I could get to the area and set up well before sunrise. All my gear had been checked, double-checked, and then triple-checked. Our autumn weather has been very settled, the previous morning light had been gorgeous, and I was very excited about what I was going to capture this morning.
Of course it was pitch black traveling to my destination – and no better when I got there. I couldn’t see a lot of stars in the sky, but figured that the clouds would miraculously clear around sunrise, just for me, so I could get some spectacular photos. I was wrong.
